Two teenage boys have been charged over a fire in Harrington Park bushland yesterday.

Two teenagers have been charged with deliberately lighting a bushfire.

Police say that about 12.45pm yesterday, (Sunday, February 19), emergency services were called to Fairfax Reserve in Harrington Park, after reports of a bushfire.

The area at the time was subject to a fire ban.

Local residents were able to extinguish the blaze in bushland, which had spread from a couch that had been set on fire.

Police say that a Harrington Park resident stopped and spoke to two 14-year-old boys who were in the vicinity of the fire.

Police from Camden Local Area Command attended and placed the boys under arrest.

They were taken to Narellan Police Station where both were charged with intentionally causing a fire and be reckless as to its spread.

They were both granted conditional bail to appear at a Children’s Court on Tuesday, March 14.
