Western Sydney University’s newest high rise vertical campus will be officially opened in Liverpool by Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison tomorrow morning, Wednesday, June 13.

The new Liverpool City campus houses the university’s programs in nursing, midwifery, social sciences, and psychology.

A LaunchPad start-up incubator will also be based at the campus, and provides unprecedented access to state of the art facilities for technology based businesses in South West Sydney.

Vice-chancellor and president Professor Barney Glover said the 10-storey campus deepens the university’s well established relationship with the region.

“With this technologically enhanced vertical campus, we are ensuring that Liverpool can take the lead in capitalising on the opportunities that digital transformation brings,’’ he said.

“The campus will also intensify the university’s pivotal role in driving innovation, knowledge, job generation, and industry attraction ahead of the coming airport and aerotropolis,” Prof Glover said.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller also welcomed the opening of the Liverpool campus, noting the positive contribution the new campus makes to educational prospects in Liverpool.

Already operational for nursing courses, the campus building will be open to all Western Sydney University students in July 2018.

The campus is within walking distance to public transport, is located adjacent to Westfield shopping centre, and is just minutes from Liverpool Hospital.

The WiFi-enabled campus boasts one of Australia’s most high-tech nursing laboratories, student only zones, sleeping pods and Zoom capabilities within classrooms, ensuring students remain supported and connected throughout their time at the university.

The Liverpool City campus, located at 100 Macquarie Street, Liverpool, is Western Sydney University’s second vertical, high rise campus set in the heart of a key CBD location.

The building was designed by local architects Mosca Pserras.

Tomorrow’s official opening coincides with the launch of Circles of Sustainability, Liverpool report by Professor Paul James, Director of Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University.
