Python among eight snakes stolen from local pet store

policeemblemDetective Inspector Jayne Doherty, the Camden Local Area Command crime manager, is about to address the media over the break-in and theft of snakes from a pet store in Gregory Hills on Sunday morning.

Det Insp Doherty is scheduled to brief the media at 1.30pm outside Narellan Police Station on Camden Valley Way.

Police have been appealing for information since the theft of the reptiles was reported.

They say that between 6.30am and 6.45am yesterday (Sunday, October 30), one or more persons forced entry to the pet store which is located on Steer Road, Gregory Hills.

Once inside they smashed a number of display tanks and stole eight snakes.

Among the stolen reptiles was an albino Darwin carpet python.

The matter was reported to officers from Camden Local Area Command and the store was forensically examined.

Police continue to investigate and are appealing for information and Det Insp Doherty is expected to reiterate that message at the 1.30pm media conference..
