Tech Savvy Seniors program will offer sessions in Cantonese
The next Campbelltown Tech Savvy Seniors program will offer sessions in Cantonese.

Technology skills are essential for anyone who wants to keep in touch with family and friends across the country and around the world.

Covering basic computer skills, email and the internet, Campbelltown City Council’s free Tech Savvy Seniors program offers small group training at local libraries over four weeks, with friendly and easy-to-follow two-hour sessions helping seniors to embrace technology and stay connected in our digital society.

Making the initiative even more inclusive, sessions in Cantonese will be held on Wednesdays, starting June 7, from 10am to midday, at the HJ Daley Library, Campbelltown.

The lessons will be facilitated by bilingual trainers, with teaching notes and resources provided.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, encouraged Campbelltown’s Cantonese speaking seniors to embrace the opportunity to learn about new technology.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Tech Savvy Seniors aims to make our older residents more comfortable with modern technology, helping them stay connected with their community, more easily able to access information and pursue new interests,” he said.[/social_quote]

“I’m very pleased council is embracing this year’s NSW Seniors Festival theme of ‘inclusive communities’ by providing sessions in Cantonese.”

Tech Savvy Seniors complements Council’s IT & Biscuits program, which aims to give residents of all ages a basic understanding of computers and how they work, as well as a hands-on guide to emailing, searching the internet, and mastering Facebook and Skype.

Workshops run throughout the year.

Techy Savvy Seniors sessions are free, but bookings are essential, as places are limited.
