Man, 22, faces court over two day crime spree

crime spreeA Claymore man has been arrested and charged with multiple offences allegedly committed over two days this week.

Police began making inquiries after an armed robbery on Tuesday, when at 6am two men entered a fast-food outlet on Stoney Batter Road in the Minto industrial estate off Pembroke Road.

Police will allege the men were armed with knives, and threatened a 32-year-old female employee. They then fled with cash and personal items belonging to the employee.

The woman was not injured.

Following inquiries, police from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command arrested a 22-year-old man in Claymore about 4am yesterday, Thursday.

The man was taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station, where he was charged with robbery in company in relation to the Minto incident.

Police charged the man with seven additional offences, which are alleged to have occurred between Tuesday and Thursday this week.

The charges are:

Aggravated break, enter and steal at a property in Sapphire Place, Eagle Vale;
Steal motor vehicle from the same property;
Destroy property by fire in Griffiths Place, Eagle Vale;
Dishonestly obtain property by deception at a St Andrews service station;
Break, enter and steal at a landscaping-supplies business in Gregory Hills;
Take and drive conveyance from a Woodbine property; and goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The man was refused bail, and will remain in custody until his appearance in Campbelltown Local Court on March 11.

The investigation continues.
