[dropcap]The [/dropcap]footy’s back and so is the Camden Show for another year.

Lumberjacks, pig racing, sheep dog demonstrations, fireworks, a rodeo, show jumping and carnival rides – Camden Show will offer an authentic country experience next weekend, March 16-17.

Now in its 132nd year and held in Camden Showground, it is one of the biggest events in the Macarthur region, attracting more than 40,000 visitors each year.

A community run event, Camden Show aims to promote excellence in agriculture through competitions, exhibitions and entertainment in a family friendly atmosphere.

Hundreds of farm animals, from alpacas, sheep, goats, and pigs to dogs, horses and cattle – will be on show, with many performing throughout the program.

Craft, produce, baking, photography and art created by those in the region will be on display, and children can enjoy rides, amusements, show bags and an interactive tent focused on growing their own food, recycling and protecting the environment.

Laser skirmish is expected to be popular with teenagers, while whip-cracking competitions, pig races, the search for the best scarecrow and a ute competition are among the quirkier events.

Highlights of the show include a motorcycle and bicycle freestyle show, and the lumberjacks, travelling all the way from Canada to race each other as they climb 15 metre high poles and chop as quickly as they can.

Friday night’s schedule will feature a new, action-packed rodeo from 7pm, while Saturday will feature an exhilarating show from a precision-driving team, and finish with a fireworks display.
