Planning for the Campbelltown Sports and Health Centre of Excellence is under way.
As part of the process, Campbelltown City Council is seeking expressions of interest from sporting associations and community organisations for occupancy and use of the $25 million facility.
The Centre of Excellence is being developed in partnership with Western Sydney University (Campbelltown campus), and will bring elite and community sport together in one precinct at Macarthur Heights, adjacent to WSU.
The precinct will include indoor sports halls, specialist training units, a community and athlete fitness centre, community health centre, hydrotherapy, and programs of excellence in partnership with WSU and TAFE NSW – South West Sydney Institute.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said council envisioned a community precinct promoting sports participation, education, health and wellbeing, and providing business and economic opportunities.
“I’m very excited council is moving forward to deliver this innovative facility, addressing the need for elite sporting facilities in South West Sydney, and improving access to sport and recreation opportunities for the wider community,” he said.
