Glassing in Airds beer garden: woman, 46, charged

A woman has been charged over a glassing in Airds last night.

Police say about 8.20pm a 31-year-old woman and a 46-year-old woman, who were not known to each other, were involved in a verbal exchange at a licensed premises on Riverside Drive at Airds.

Ten minutes later, the older woman was in the beer garden of the hotel when she was approached by the younger woman.

The 46-year-old then allegedly struck the 31-year-old in the face with a schooner glass, causing a significant wound.

Police were called and attended, establishing a crime scene.

The older woman was arrested at the scene.

The victim had left prior to police arrival. Police attended her address and she was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment to the facial wound, which will require surgery.

The 46-year-old woman was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on November 27.

In a separate incident, police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses.

About 7.10am on Friday, October 13, a 41-year-old woman was driving a grey Ford Focus north-west along Oxford Road, Ingleburn.

When approaching the intersection of Collins Promenade and Harold Street she came to a stop for a red traffic light.

On the green light the driver commenced a right turn and collided with two pedestrians who were crossing at the designated area.

A 60-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital, while a 69-year-old man suffered injuries and has since been released.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and rendered assistance.

She attended Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory tests and is assisting with the investigation.

An investigation is now under way and officers are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
