Senior Constable David Blom has been the public face of Macquarie Fields Local Area Command for several years.

Now he is also the 2018 Macarthur Rotary Clubs Police Officer of the Year.

He received the prestigious award at a presentation dinner held earlier this week in Wests Leagues Club Leumeah.

The nomination for Constable Blom says that he provides outstanding community engagement in line with the expectations of his role as Crime Prevention Officer [CPO] at Macquarie Fields.

But the truth is that Constable Blom was recognised for going above and beyond the call of duty.

He always manages to find time to spend at youth programs and regularly can be seen at Youth Off The Streets [YOTS] at Macquarie Fields after work, helping with youth engagement – and still representing the police.

Over the past two years Constable Blom he has been a key influencer and organiser of the White Ribbon Day Convoy event and related men’s information evening.

Last year, he re-launched the Macquarie Fields NAIDOC touch football event at Minto, leading a committee that went on to organise a very successful community event.

“Despite the workload and issues this brings, Constable Blom’s demeanour and enthusiasm is unwavering, solid and dependable,’’ said the nomination for this outstanding local police officer.

As a Crime Prevention Officer, Constable Blom initiates, coordinates and manages both crime prevention strategies and community based programs.
