A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly crashed his car, then ran from police in the early hours of this morning.

About 1.30am today (Saturday, October 14), police were patrolling a car park in the Ingleburn central business district when they observed a vehicle acting suspiciously.

When officers approached the vehicle it is alleged the driver reversed harshly, striking a bollard.

The driver then accelerated forward and struck another bollard.

Police activated their lights and sirens, indicating for the driver to stop, however the driver accelerated again and drove a short distance before crashing into a gutter on Nardoo Street.

The male driver and passenger both fled on foot and police pursued the pair through several yards in Ingleburn.

The Police Dog Unit was called to the incident and shortly after the driver was apprehended.

The 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A second man, the passenger, was located asleep on a footpath nearby.

He was also arrested and taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station.

The driver was later charged with negligent driving, not give particulars to owner of damaged property, enter enclosed lands without lawful excuse and drive whilst disqualified.

He will next appear in Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, October 31.

The second man was later released without charge.
