Welcome aboard big guy: Bryce Gibbs, second from right, with Appin Dogs players and officials after joining the club.

Appin Dogs have announced the signing of former Wests Tigers hard man Bryce Gibbs for the 2015 season.

Gibbs, who recently retired from NRL football, 0played 197 NRL matches for the Tigers and Cronulla Sharks, as well as four City Origin games during  a career spanning 12 years.

His experience of the game will go a long way to help with the development of the Appin Dogs, who only entered the Group 6 first grade competition for the first time during the 2014 season.

“Bryce was renowned for his defence and his line speed, which will be an asset in the group 6 comp and the Appin Dogs,’’ said Appin Dogs club president Robert Dreis.

“We are also hoping to help Bryce get over the line a few more times to add to his four tries he managed to score in the NRL,’’ said Mr Dreis during the club’s presentation day held at the Appin Hotel.

Gibbs is a local, having grown up in Camden.

During his Tiger years he formed a strong friendship with second rower and team joker Liam Fulton.
