If you’re a beginner and would like some coaching at the South West Sydney Academy of Sport golf day on June 1, young gun Robbie Minns will be one of several academy golfers available to offer some tips.

Funds raised from the annual golf day of South West Sydney Academy of Sport ensure all of their athletes get every opportunity to reach the top of their chosen sport.

But members of the academy’s golf program also help make the golf day more than just a great networking event.

Up to eight of them are available to help golf beginners with handy tips and coaching during the Ambrose event.

And while the academy’s golf day is all about fun and networking, it is made even more special by having talented golfers helping anyone taking part who has either never played the game before or who is a beginner.

“Each of our talented golfers can be added to teams of three where the players are beginners and would like some coaching over the 18 holes,’’ says Gerry Knights, the academy chief.

This year’s event is slated for Friday, June 1, but you’d better hurry and register soon as May 11 is the closing date for payments.

Picturesque Campbelltown Golf Club will be the venue this year.

“We will have on-course serious and not so serious competitions to challenge everybody,’’ Mr Knights said.

“All proceeds raised go directly to supporting the development of our region’s best young sporting athletes.’’

The day will start with breakfast, followed by 18 holes of golf, including the challenges of the nearest the pin, longest drive and team nett winner and team scratch winner competitions.

Plus, there will be additional prizes up for grabs, all followed by a delicious lunch overlooking the course.

Several sponsorship options are offered every year at the academy’s golf day, including naming rights and hole sponsorships.
