You’ll soon be able to drive a little faster on Gregory Hills Drive

Around 15,000 vehicles use Gregory Hills Drive every day and from November 1 they will be able to go a little faster.

The current 60km/h speed limit will go up to 70km/h from Thursday, November 1.

The change will apply along Gregory Hills Drive between Kavanagh Street and Eagle Vale Drive at Gregory Hills.

It comes after Roads and Maritime Services carried out a speed zone review in response to requests from the community following the opening of Gregory Hills Drive last year.

Member for Camden Chris Patterson said that after considering feedback from the community, a decision was made to increase the speed limit.

“Gregory Hills Drive provides access to the growing suburbs of Gregory Hills, Smeaton Grange and Oran Park,” Mr Patterson said.

Roads and Maritime will install a 70km/h speed limit for around 2.4 kilometres from 100 metres south of Kavanagh Street to just north of Eagle Vale Drive at Gregory Hills.

The existing 60 km/h speed limit will remain in place along the remainder of Gregory Hills Drive.

“The speed limit was assessed on a number of factors including road usage, road geometry, developments in the area and traffic volumes,” the Camden MP said.

“Gregory Hills Drive provides access to busy residential and retail precincts and also serves as a popular route for motorists travelling from Oran Park to Campbelltown so it’s important to ensure efficient and safe trips can be taken on this road.”

Community members can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their area.
