South west Sydney get ready to hop to the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan this Easter long weekend – bunny ears on and baskets in hand – for the highly anticipated return of The Great ABG Egg Hunt.

After a highly successful inaugural year in 2016, the popular family Easter Adventure will see children follow trail maps and complete fun challenges as they hunt for a furry bunny friend in the beautiful natural setting of Australia’s largest botanic garden.

“It’s all about getting outside and active while engaging in good old-fashioned fun,’’ says Melissa Slarp, the garden’s education and community programs officer.

“We really wanted to create an opportunity for children to experience the classic Easter Egg Hunt we remember so well from our own childhoods!”

“There will be lots of bunny and egg themed activities including a sack race, ring toss and an egg hunt, as well as a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny at the end – don’t forget your camera!”

Darrell Lea, Australia’s favourite confectionary company, which is based right here in Macarthur, is back for a second year and will be supplying their delicious chocolate eggs for the occasion.

“They are a family owned company and have a base at Ingleburn, so they were a natural fit for the event,” Ms Slarp said.

Families are encouraged to make a day out of their visit, to pack a picnic and enjoy a walk through the garden or tour through the Australian PlantBank which is now open for weekends and will have seed activities for the kids.
