Join one of the largest environmental movements in the country on Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 4 by rolling up your sleeves and pitching in to help preserve bushland around Airds.
Campbelltown City Council is calling for volunteers to help clear rubbish from the bushland area between residential properties in Airds and the Georges River corridor, between 9am and midday as part of the nation-wide clean up day.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said Clean Up Australia Day helped keep our city tidy, and importantly, also raised awareness about the harmful impacts thoughtlessly dumping rubbish had on the natural environment.
“Campbelltown City is fortunate to have an abundance of bushland, parks and reserves locals can enjoy, and equally fortunate to have community-minded residents who turn out for this event, and throughout the year, to help preserve the animals and plants which occupy those areas,” he said.
“I encourage the community to come along on Clean Up Australia Day, and make a positive difference to our environment, meet new friends and find out more about council’s Bushcare groups which operate across the city,” he said.
The meeting point is Woolwash Road, Airds. Volunteers should wear long pants and enclosed shoes, and bring a hat and drinking water. Gloves and sunscreen will be provided.
