We may be in the middle of a fairly cold winter, but a week out from August, Spring isn’t that far away.

Which is a nice thought for gardeners and gardeners to be.

Spring is probably the best time of the year for green thumbs, whether they’re planting tomatoes and beans or flowers.

But Spring’s also a good time to hone those gardening skills or pick up some new ones.

And then there’s the rest of us, who just want to learn enough skills to get started in the garden.

This is where the Macarthur region’s self described Veggie Lady comes in.

Also known as Toni Salter, the Veggie Lady of Currans Hill is a horticulturist, writer and talk-back radio show guest who provides gardening advice, workshops, horticultural therapy, tutorials and seminars – both in person and online.

The venue for her classes is Toni’s Currans Hill garden, complete with chooks.

Toni’s Veggie Gardening Masterclass – 10am-12 on Sunday, September 23 will offer expert tips on growing your own veggies.

You will also learn the five biggest mistakes and how to avoid them so you can get the most out of your own garden.

A maximum of 12 people is Toni’s rule for her classes, so you’d better hurry if you want to be one of them.

Price includes morning tea, fact sheets and a take-home plant.

Another class, Tea and Terrariums @ Toni’s is scheduled for Friday, September 21, also between 10am and 12 noon.

Enjoy a delicious home baked Devonshire tea with locally produced jam and cream – then make your own glass terrarium bowl to take home.

Price includes tea, scones, glass bowl, plants and decorative pebbles.
