Sweet: some of the goodies that will be available at the new “sweet street” of AnnanRoma wine and food festival this Sunday at the Australian Botanic Garden Mt Annan.

AnnanRoma food, beer and wine festival is on this Sunday at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan.

It will come just a day after the close of another great Macarthur event, the Camden Show this Friday and Saturday.

Yesterday the popular Kids of Macarthur bear and doll show was on and just a few Saturdays ago Ingleburn Alive! kicked up its heels.

Not that it needed a boost, but the addition of a “sweet street’’ right next to its “eat street’’ will certainly help AnnanRoma in the popularity stakes of what is a congested festivals calendar in our wonderful region.

AnnanRoma, now in its 10th year, celebrates the best in food and produce out of west and south  west Sydney and this Sunday won’t be any different.

Will it will be different: sweeter.

There will be everything from churros with locally made cream, drizzled in chocolate, to Italian pastries, to the most beautifully decorated cupcakes, to gourmet macaron flavours and fresh chocolate coated strawberries.

Leaving the sweet taste of AnnaRoma to one side, with so many events to choose from, the time has come to declare our Top 5 festival events in the Macarthur region.

Number 1. It has looked a little jaded lately, but Fisher’s Ghost festival in Campbelltown is still top of the pops. It has just about everything over more than a week and with moves to run some parts, such as the parade, at night, it will lead the way for many more years in Macarthur.

Number 2. This was tough because it was so difficult to separate Camden Show and AnnanRoma, so we’ve given it to the Camden lot on the basis that it’s been successful for a lot longer – try more than 100 years.

Number 3. AnnanRoma, obviously, in its 10th year, and the only issue I would raise is the need to bring in some cover in case it rains, as it did a couple of years ago.

Number 4. Ingleburn Alive! This event has got better and better and the last one a few weeks ago saw so many people – 10,000 was one estimate – you could hardly move in Oxford Road.

Number 5. Vintage car show at Holly Lea Road. This is a fundraiser for the 24 Hour Fight Against cancer Macarthur and always pulls in the punters. Good show, chaps.

Ingleburn Alive! festival
There were huge crowds at this year’s Ingleburn Alive! festival earlier this year.
