Sport survey: Rosedale Oval at Warwick Farm

Liverpool is a sports mad city with more than 15,000 residents playing organised sport each year.

There are many community benefits derived from consistent participation in organised sport such as reducing social isolation, building a sense of personal achievement, increasing fitness and improving skills.

To help understand the issues local sporting clubs face, Liverpool City Council is undertaking its first ever comprehensive survey of sporting clubs through its online Forum Liverpool Listens.

“Sporting clubs are the backbone of our community and council is proud to support the volunteers who make these clubs viable,’’ says Ned Mannoun, the mayor of Liverpool.

“Sporting clubs ensure that our community has access to the best recreational opportunities to ensure a healthy and active lifestyle,” he said.

Liverpool Listens is a dedicated online forum where Council can listen to the people of Liverpool by starting the conversation about a range of interesting topics.

The online consultation aims to gather the views of clubs to help develop a new strategy for delivering improved recreational outcomes in Liverpool for the next 10 years.

“The detailed strategy will strengthen council’s commitment to being a more active and health conscious city into the future,” Mayor Mannoun said.

Council is seeking feedback on:

〉 Total number of registered participants and volunteers;

〉 The main issues facing clubs;

〉 the level of satisfaction with council’s recreation services;

Any feedback received as part of the Liverpool Listens consultation will be used to provide a snapshot of the number of clubs and registered players in Liverpool and capture ideas to improve council’s recreation services.

Council encourages administrators from all sporting clubs to have their say by accessing Liverpool Listens survey at http://listens.liverpool.nsw.gov.au/users/sign_up and providing feedback by Sunday, March 29.
