International Women's Day in 2018
If you have an event celebrating International Women’s Day in 2018 register it to have it included in a council calendar of events.

Activities inspiring and celebrating women will be held across Campbelltown City as part of International Women’s Day next March.

Community groups, businesses and other organisations are invited to register their activity with Campbelltown Council, for inclusion in a calendar of events.

International Women’s Day is held on March 8 each year.

Activities are held worldwide throughout the month focusing on respect and appreciation for women, and celebrating their economic, political and social achievements.

The movement encourages activities which aim to develop the skills and independence of women, and build their knowledge in areas which are traditionally dominated by men.

Activities could include:

· Providing an interactive skill building workshop;

· Facilitating an information session relevant to women;

· Providing an entertainment activity for women;

· Encouraging women to learn about areas traditionally linked to men;

· Promoting and advertising special offers celebrating International Women’s Day.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the 2017 calendar of events included a diverse range of activities, from a kickboxing session and car maintenance workshop, to a trivia night and legal rights talk.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“International Women’s Day recognises the valuable contribution of women to our community,’’ he said.[/social_quote]

“Promoting local activities through council’s calendar of events will help ensure our city has every opportunity to celebrate the success of women from all backgrounds,” he said.

♦ If you are hosting an International Women’s Day activity in 2018, register your interest in featuring your activity in the calendar by this Friday, December 22.

The calendar will be available in digital and print format by mid-February, for distribution to all participants and the wider community.
