[dropcap]B[/dropcap]usinesses along Argyle Street in Picton have given positive feedback on the NBN (National Broadband Network) rollout.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said a recent street walk and survey had revealed most businesses were happy with the service, with teething issues largely resolved.

“We did a walk along Argyle Street a few weeks ago and spoke face-to-face with two dozen small businesses,’’ he said.

“Many reported easy connection processes and an improvement in their internet speeds,” Mr Taylor said.

“Some businesses said they had needed to update handsets and EFTPOS equipment, one business had to replace a line because of drop-outs in the connection, in another case an on-street node needed to be correctly sealed to prevent water seepage.

“We had an overwhelmingly positive response and are grateful for the friendly feedback.”

Picton Newsagency assistant Sheree Cosgrove said: “We only just connected, we have two phone lines and all is working perfectly.”

That Office Place owner Ren Moolhuyzen said: “We’re on a 23mbps plan. We have everything going through it – phone calls, eftpos, security, internet. We’re saving about $70 – $80 a month.”

Mr Taylor encouraged anyone with NBN inquiries or seeking information on how to connect to the NBN to contact their local internet service provider/providers.

“Across Hume, more than 66,000 premises can access NBN fast internet, which is more  than 90 percent of the electorate. The Coalition is providing an NBN fast internet solution for everyone in Hume.”
