Pacific Test Invitational
There’s more to this year’s Pacific Test Invitational than exciting, top level rugby league.

There will be a lot more than rugby league on the menu between now and this year’s Pacific Test Invitational on Saturday, June 23.

Campbelltown will be awash with activities celebrating the cultures of our Pacific Island neighbours, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and Papua New Guinea in the lead up to the Pacific Test Invitational at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the Pacific Test Invitational was an exciting event on the Macarthur calendar.

He said the Campbelltown community will be able to experience the colour and vibrancy of the Pacific with a week-long festival of cultural activities happening across Campbelltown.

“Drop in to the Pacific Proud Hub at Macarthur Square shopping centre operating from 10am to 4pm from Saturday, June 16,’’ he said.

“It will feature a mini football field with fun activities and the opportunity to purchase game day tickets.

“Kids will love visiting the Bicycle Education and Road Safety Centre with a Pacific themed open day on Sunday, June 17 from 10am to 1pm. Not only will they be able to safely ride their bikes and scooters at the centre but there will be Pacific dancers, market stalls and a jumping castle.

“Even our youngest residents can learn more about Pacific Island culture with Storytime across Campbelltown Libraries from Tuesday, June 19 to Friday, June 22, led by Pacific Island elders in traditional dress, who will read stories about the Pacific to children.”

Cook Islands and PNG battle it at last year’s Pacific Test Invitational at Campbelltown.

An exciting warm up to the Pacific Test Invitational will be the free Fan Day and Captains Call at Campbelltown Athletics Centre on Wednesday, June 20 from 4.30pm to 7pm.

“Come along after school or work to get an autograph or selfie with the players from Toa Samoa, Mate Ma’a Tonga, Papua New Guinea Kumuls and Fiji Bati,” Cr Brticevic said.

“Families and footy fans alike will be able to experience the culture of the Pacific through entertainment, stalls and dinner from a selection of food trucks. There will also be rugby league development clinics and kids’ inflatables.”

For some more Pacific fun, join the free, all ages Polynesian dancing class at Macquarie Fields Fitness and Indoor Sports Centre on Friday, June 22 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Bookings are not required for this class but places will be limited.

The night before game day, Pacific Test Invitational ambassador Tofiga Fepulea’i will deliver his ‘I Gant Belive It’ comedy show at The Cube at Campbelltown Catholic Club, on Friday, June 22.

All ages tickets are available through Eventbrite for only $30, or as a package with Pacific Test Invitational tickets via Ticketek.
