Proud of you: Campbelltown MP Greg Warren with some of the local Oz Tag stars selected to represent the Western City Scorpions in this year’s NSW Junior City versus Country tournament this Sunday at Bateau Bay.

Appin Oz Tag star Josh Yu says he’s excited by the prospect of playing for Western City Scorpions in this year’s NSW Junior City versus Country tournament.

“I am so excited I can’t wait to play,’’ says the 14 year old, one of several local Oz Tag players selected for the Scorpions.

“We have trained hard and I’m ready to take the opportunity to represent the Western City Scorpions team,” Josh said.

Another local talented Oz Tag player to win selection was 16 year old Jayden Meria from Bow Bowing.

“I am very proud to have been selected for the Western City Scorpions,’’ he said.

“I have enjoyed training and I am excited to play in the tournament.”

Josh, Jayden and some of the other players selected for representative honours were recently presented to Campbelltown MP Greg Warren ahead of the NSW Junior City versus Country Oz Tag tournament.

“Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region have produced some prestigious sporting talents,’’ Mr Warren said.

“Olympic swimmers Daniel Tranter and Jim Piper, Matilda’s player Alanna Kennedy, Hockeyroo Emily Hurtz, NRL players James Tedesco and Chris Lawrence – the list goes on and on.

“This group of talented young Oz Tag players heading to Bateau Bay certainly aren’t short on talent either.

“It was amazing to recently see the fields buzzing with hundreds of young Oz Tag players – and that was only for a mid-week competition.
