Our MP’s old school ethic shines brightly in a cynical age

Greg Warren
MP Greg Warren, second from right, recently joined his federal counterpart, Dr Mike Freelander. to present Briar Road Public School with new NSW, Australian and Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island flags.

Today I am going to let you in on a little secret.

It’s a bit hush hush, so don’t tell anyone, OK?

You know the State member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren, right.

Well, there’s four of him.

Sounds preposterous, I know, but that’s the only explanation that makes sense.

There’s no way just one Greg Warren could do all the things that Greg Warren does.

The man is without a doubt the Energizer bunny of NSW Parliament.

He goes to just about everything he’s invited to, no matter how big or small the occasion.

So we have the official functions Greg Warren.

Then there’s Facebook Greg Warren, who is either posting about his activities or commenting – usually in a positive manner – about others’ posts.

Twitter Greg Warren is also a busy little bunny who misses nothing, especially if it’s something good about Campbelltown.

No local media Tweet goes by without getting a pat on the back from Greg Warren.

And finally there’s parliament Greg Warren, who’s always getting up to tell his fellow MPs what he thinks about this or that.

No doubt his enemies and negative people will dismiss him as someone who would go to the opening of an envelope.

But they would miss the point.

Greg Warren does what he does because he truly believes that’s what a representative of the people ought to be doing.

It’s true that every human being is different and each of us have our own way of doing things.

The State Member for Campbelltown’s way of doing things is to be as accessible to as many people as possible.

In a cynical age where we are generally contemptuous of politicians, what’s wrong with having as our MP someone who is old school.

In my book, not much at all.
