Local cricket in the Macarthur region will receive a boost when new training facilities are completed at Raby Sporting Complex, the home of Campbelltown-Camden Cricket Club.

The new facilities will include three synthetic wickets, which will be enclosed in fencing and include lane netting.

With its positioning behind the indoor centre the surface will also provide extended bowling run ups for training in the indoor entre.

When completed the Raby Training Complex will offer three indoor lanes, three outdoor synthetic lanes and 18 outdoor turf training wickets.

Construction will be completed during the cricket off season and will be ready for use in the 2015/16 grade cricket season.

The Raby project received a $25,000 McDonald’s Community Facilities Grant from Cricket NSW. This contribution has been matched by the State Government, Campbelltown City Council and the Campbelltown-Camden Cricket Club to fund the $100,000 training facility.

‘’The club is very proud of the Raby facility and very grateful to Campbelltown City Council, sponsors, local members and all stakeholders who continue to support us as we support our local young men and women of the Macarthur district,’’ said club president Alan Connolly.

The Campbelltown training facility is one of 30 projects across NSW that have received funding from this round of the McDonald’s Community Grants Program.

The program is a state-wide initiative designed to help improve the standard of playing and training facilities for the cricket community across NSW.

“As a father and a passionate cricket fan myself, I feel very proud of our partnership with Cricket NSW, which provides us greater opportunities to help the community to get active, encourage development of junior sport and support local clubs by making cricket more accessible across the state,” said Peter Meadows, McDonald’s Campbelltown licensee.

“We at McDonald’s firmly believe in the importance of teaching values like sportsmanship and camaraderie to kids of all ages.

“The Campbelltown-Camden Cricket Club has been a great avenue for our local kids to learn these values and I hope this grant will assist them in continuing their great work in our community,” Mr Meadows said.
