Where to from here: the Kangaroos attack the Picton tryline on Sunday when they suffered their fourth loss of the season, going down 30-10, to be 0-4 so far this season.

Reigning premiers Campbelltown City are still without a win in 2018 after their 30-10 loss to the Magpies in Picton yesterday.

The Kangaroos had a bye in round one of the season and have gone on to lose their first four games.

With a bye round for the coming Mother’s Day weekend, the Kangaroos will at least have two weeks in which to regroup before their next clash, at home against Camden Rams.

The other Round 5 results saw Thirlmere seal second place on the ladder with a 38-28 win over The Oaks Tigers at Dudley Chesham Oval, while Moss Vale took their first on-field point of the season after an 18-18 draw with Camden at Community Oval. Mittagong defeated Oakdale 10-0.

The match between Picton and Campbelltown City didn’t reach any heights, and the home side just did enough to secure the win, reports MIKE SHEAN, of Macarthur Sports Radio:

Picton scored the opening try of the day through livewire halfback Tim Dengate, but a string of penalties meant neither side was able to get any momentum during the first half of football.

Campbelltown City scored their first try of the afternoon in the 15th minute through replacement halfback Jamin Williams, reducing the deficit to 6-4.

Picton’s replacement forward Billy Carroll scored a nice try 12 minutes before halftime, extending the Magpies’ lead at the break to 12-4.

Makeshift Picton five-eighth Shawn Orcher scored 10 minutes after the resumption of play, for an 18-4 scoreline.

The Kangaroos responded with a try of their own a few minutes later when centre Jack Carney crossed, giving the Kangaroos’ faithful a little hope.

But Dengate’s second try shortly after put paid to that.

Michael Lett sealed the win with a long range try in the second-last minute of play, to make it 30-10.

Picton have several key players who will be returning from injury, so it’s not that grim for the Magpies.

It’s the Kangaroos and first year coach Isaac de Gois who will have some soul searching to do over the next two weeks.
