MP Greg Warren says a new legal and justice precinct must be built in Campbelltown.

It’s Campbelltown or bust when it comes to building a regional justice centre.

That’s the message for the State Government, which is considering establishing a multi-jurisdictional justice precinct in Macarthur.

Local State MP Greg Warren said it had to be in Campbelltown.

His call follows recent report indicating the Berejiklian Government was examining several sites where the precinct could be built in Macarthur – including Campbelltown, Leppington and Oran Park.

Mr Warren said the location of the existing Campbelltown Court House and public transport links meant Campbelltown was the most practical and viable option.

It would also provide the local economy with a much-needed boost.

“If the state government seriously wants to build a multi-jurisdictional justice precinct in Macarthur, it must be built in Campbelltown – not Oran Park or Leppington,’’ Mr Warren said.

“Surely it would be cheaper to expand Campbelltown Court House rather than building an entirely new precinct in either of the other two areas.

“Have you ever tried to catch a bus from Campbelltown to Oran Park?

“I can tell you, it’s not easy or practical.

“Catching a train from Campbelltown to Leppington would also be highly inconvenient as you would have to go via Glenfield – and change trains – to get there.

“This Liberal state government’s track record when it comes to services and jobs in Campbelltown is appalling.

“There has certainly been a lot more take than give.

“They closed Campbelltown’s motor registry so they could open up a service centre in Gregory Hills and removed direct train services from Campbelltown to Parramatta.

“Both of those decisions have only made life a lot harder for Campbelltown residents.

“There has been too much injustice in Campbelltown since this Liberal state government were first elected – it’s time that changed.”

  1. Like everything wth this government they do not do what’s best for residents. If it looks good on paper and they gain from it, that’s all they care about.

We only have to look at the disaster of moving RMS to Gregory Hills. There seriously are some idiots making these decisions which affect tens of thousands of people…
