Man’s body found inside Elderslie home after fire was extinguished

Investigations continue into a suspicious house fire in Elderslie which claimed the life of a man.

The body of the man, who is yet to be identified, was located inside the home after the fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW officers.

Police say the dead man is not believed to be a resident of the home.

The initial reports when emergency services were called to Crank Place, Elderslie just before midnight on Saturday were of a home invasion and a house fire.

Six other people were inside the home at the time and they were all treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Two officers also attended hospital for smoke inhalation.

One of those officers also suffered a fractured hand. They have both now been released.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command established a crime scene, which continues to be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives are treating the fire as suspicious and a targeted incident.
