Footy Show star Joel Caine and Miss Universe contestant Melinda Kemp will host the 2014 inaugural Liverpool Mayoral Charity Ball.

Mayor Ned Mannoun said Joel and Melinda would ensure that the night was a huge success.

“I’m delighted that these two prominent personalities will be working with us on the night,” Mayor Mannoun said.

“Joel is a wonderful professional speaker who played in the NRL and the Superleague in the 1990s and 2000s.

“Melinda is a model who has been a Miss Universe Australia finalist, so she’s used to an international stage.

“I’m sure they’ll make a marvellous team on the night.”

The Mayoral Ball will raise funds for the Cancer Wellness Centre and the Youth Adult Disabled Association. The target is $50,000 to be shared equally between the charities.

“August 23 is going to be the highlight of the year for Liverpool,” Mayor Mannoun said.

“Make sure you’re there to have a great time and support these great local causes.

“Tickets are selling fast and we’re pleased we’ve got a range of sponsors on board including Gold Sponsor Abacus Property, Silver Level sponsors: PricewaterhouseCoopers, TAFE South Western Sydney Institute, Moorebank Intermodal Company Limited and Masters Home Improvement. Our Bronze sponsors are Casula Mall, Peter Warren Group, Chan & Taylor.”

Cancer Wellness Centre: Liverpool Hospital will build a new Cancer Wellness Centre in Goulburn Street, Liverpool. Close to the Cancer Therapy Centre, the centre will be used by patients recovering from cancer. It will have the feel of a home, rather than a hospital and offer therapies for patients following cancer treatment.

Youth Adult Disabled Association (YADA):  YADA has provided social support for people with disabilities for more than 25 years. YADA runs a day-centre group two days a week at a local community hall where people participate in activities to enhance their confidence and living skills.
