Kearns man, 23, faces possession of child abuse material charges

A 23-year-old Kearns man has been charged with being in possession of child abuse material.

He was arrested at home yesterday morning.

Following the arrest, police executed a search warrant at the home and seized computers, electronic devices, and mobile phones.

The man was taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of possession of child abuse material.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, November 21.

The investigation was carried out as part of Strike Force Trawler by detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Unit (CEIU) following a referral from Victoria Police.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the CEIU into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

Regular covert online investigations are conducted by the CEIU and police in NSW work closely with their law-enforcement colleagues interstate and overseas.

♦ In other news, police are reappealing for assistance from the public in NSW and Queensland to locate a wanted man.

Patrick Mills, aged 46, pictured below, is wanted on a revocation of parole warrant and for breaching an order imposed by the Supreme Court of NSW.

About 6.30pm on Monday, October 23, Corrective Services NSW contacted police after Mr Mills failed to return home to Campbelltown from scheduled appointments in Sydney CBD.

Their inquiries have revealed Mr Mills may have been in the Goodna area – near Ipswich in Queensland – on Wednesday.

Mr Mills is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 170-175cm tall, with a medium build. He has short brown hair and blue eyes.

If sighted, members of the community are urged not to approach Mr Mills; instead, they should contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
