He will get the chance to do just over the next 12 months because Hamani has been selected as the Youth Member for Campbelltown in the 2018 YMCA NSW Youth Parliament.

The Youth Parliament is part of the YMCA NSW Youth & Government (Y&G) program and is widely acknowledged for empowering and supporting young people to reach their potential.

“This program is really important to me because I would like to effect change on important matters impacting young people,’’ says Hamani.

“Youth Parliament is a great way to express the opinions of young people in NSW and influence decision makers in Parliament.’’

Hamani recently met with the State Member for Campbelltown Greg Warren to discuss his involvement in the program and the issues he wishes to advocate for on behalf of Campbelltown’s younger residents.

The Labor MP, who has been in parliament for three years, was impressed by the young man and expects him to do well as our local representative in the 2018 YMCA NSW Youth Parliament.

“While I’ve not known Hamani for a particularly long time, it’s very clear to me that he is passionate about our community and about the issues affecting his peers,’’ Mr Warren said after meeting him.

“Campbelltown has many talented and amazing young leaders, and Hamani will be a great representative for our young people in the Youth Parliament,’’ Mr Warren said.
