Twelve-year old Jasmine Underwood of Leumeah has been crowned the 2014 Festival of Fisher’s Ghost Miss Princess at a special ceremony at Macarthur Square over the weekend.

Jasmine was named Miss Princess after competing against 13 other aspiring young girls from across Campbelltown. At the crowning ceremony on Sunday, Jasmine was awarded a $500 Macarthur Square gift card, a trophy and a handmade gold ring from Alan Evans Jewellers.

Actively involved in the community through helping special needs children, music, modelling, dance and soccer, Jasmine described her third consecutive quest – and final one – as “the icing on the cake”.

“I believe in helping others and I hope that through this journey I can give back to the community, which has always supported me,” said Jasmine, following her crowning.

“I will do my best to represent Campbelltown and be a dedicated ambassador for our city over the next 12 months, and I’m excited about joining my fellow quest entrants in the Street Parade and enjoying the festival spirit our city has come to know and love.”

Ten-year old Salma Allie of Campbelltown was awarded the Runner Up title, and received a $300 Macarthur Square gift card and a handmade gold ring. Kentlyn’s Brooke Nguyen, 12, was named winner of the June Dally-Watkins Junior Development Course, courtesy of June Dally-Watkins.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Councillor Paul Lake, congratulated all of the entrants on their efforts: “The Miss Princess Quest is a proud tradition of the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, and one that highlights the outstanding achievements and aptitude of young girls from across our city,” he said.

“To be a festival princess is a special honour, and none more so than this year with a delegation from Koshigaya in Japan set to join us for the Street Parade as part of our celebrations, recognising 30 years of Campbelltown’s Sister City relationship. All of the quest entrants are fantastic role models for our city, and I’d like to congratulate Jasmine, who will make an outstanding ambassador for Campbelltown at this special time and throughout the year,” the mayor said.

Highly commended were Kayla Zarantonello, Chloe Williams, Maddison Sanchez-Young, Angelina Arora, Aarushi Sharda, Cadence Rondo, Hannah Jones, Phoebe Cotton and Grace Clarke, who each received a $50 Macarthur Square gift card. Georgia Hughes and Phoenix Elliot were both awarded a McDonalds birthday party.

Sponsors of the 2014 Miss Princess Quest include Lend Lease Macarthur Square, June
