Funds raised by the 2017 McHappy Day program in Macarthur stores will help Youth Solutions.

McDonald’s Macarthur has named local youth charity Youth Solutions as the beneficiary of its 2017 McHappy Time fundraiser.

McDonald’s Macarthur, one of the region’s largest employers of young people, will partner with the drug and alcohol prevention charity for McHappy Time program, which runs for 10 days between June 14 and 24.

During that time, customers at local stores will be offered the chance to purchase the McHappy Time token for a $2 donation.

All the funds from the token sales will be donated to Youth Solutions to support the service’s youth programs across Macarthur and Wingecarribee.

The 2017 McHappy Time will also culminate with an in-store fun day on Saturday, June 24, when face painters and balloon twisters will bring their fun to the local stores and Youth Solutions staff and volunteers will get behind the counter to chat with customers.

Youth Solutions chief executive officer Geraldine Dean thanked McDonald’s in Macarthur for its support.

“This partnership highlights McDonald’s in Macarthur’s great support of our community and our young people,” Mrs Dean said.

“Both McDonald’s in Macarthur and Youth Solutions believe it is worth investing in our young people; our future leaders.

“One of the important ways we can do that is by providing our young people with the education, skills, resilience and support they need to prevent them from drug and alcohol related harm.

“The funds raised from the McHappy Time program will make an incredible difference for our small charity; helping us to continue, and strengthen, our drug and alcohol prevention and education programs for young people in this community.

“On behalf of the Youth Solutions family, I would like to thank McDonald’s in Macarthur for its support of Youth Solutions and our young people through the 2017 McHappy Time program.

“We also encourage our community members to head in store between June 14 and 24, particularly on the fun day on June 24, to purchase a $2 token and support our charity and the community.’’

Mr Peter Meadows, the owner operator of McDonald’s in Macarthur, believes as the largest employer of youth in the area that the partnership is a natural fit and all McDonald’s employees will be working hard as ambassadors for Youth Solutions helping to raise much needed funds.
