Island dreaming: Oceanic Rhythms show is coming to the Campbelltown Arts Centre this month.

Oceanic Rhythms, an operatic, soul fused show is coming to the Campbelltown Arts Centre later this month.

Made up of a choir, drummers, dancers, vocalists and hip-hop artists, Oceanic Rhythms will take the audience on an island styled journey, sharing cultural gems and melodic rhythms of yesterday and today.

It will feature vocal performances from 501, soprano singer Ballina Gee with Le Poly Voce and the Samoan SDA Choir as well as dance performances by the Fiji Youth Initiative Meke Group and the Pacifica Youth Group.

Oceanic Rhythms will also feature a performance by the event’s curator MC Trey.

Long established as a prominent hip-hop and urban music artist, Trey’s Fijian heritage and musical upbringing sees her perfectly placed as the curator of Oceanic Rhythms.

“Curating the sounds for Oceanic Rhythms has been an opportunity to showcase the diverse cultures of the Pacific,” Trey says.

“I hope that the audience will join us on an exciting journey layered with thousands of years of history and music.

“We look forward to sharing it with you all.’’

Campbelltown has a diverse Pacific community who play an active role in shaping our city, particularly through the arts, culture, music and dance, says Campbelltown Arts Centre director Michael Dagostino.

“Campbelltown Arts Centre is proud to present Oceanic Rhythms,’’ he says.
