Golf day with a difference far from the madding crowd

SWSAS golf day on Friday, May 5.
The Antill Country Golf Club will host the annual SWSAS golf day on Friday, May 5.

There’s a lot of reasons why local business people should put their hands up to play in the annual golf day of South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS).

First of all it will be a chance to have a break from the grind of running a business and the opportunity to recharge the batteries.

Like most golf fundraisers, the SWSAS event is on a Friday – what a great way to start the weekend.

But wait, there’s a few more reasons why if you only take part in one such golf day a year make it the SWSAS one on May 5.

Consider also where it will take place: the beautiful Antill Park Country Club, which means you and the other participants can enjoy a relaxed round of golf far from the madding crowd.

The course is located at the foot of Razorback Mountain, a couple of kilometres outside Picton.

It’s a nicely designed, mostly level 18 hole course which contains a challenging par 70 layout, as well as a few picturesque holes flanked by water hazards.

How’s that for good reasons to be playing at the SWSAS annual golf day on Friday, May 5 – are you in yet?

SWSAS chief executive Gerry Knights has a few more.

“If you have been fortunate enough to attend previously, you would know that this day is an amazing mix of fun, more fun and great networking opportunities,’’ says Gerry.

“We would love you to join us.

“We will have on-course serious and often very funny competitions to challenge everybody and set in a four ball ambrose format with nett and scratch winners,’’ he said.

“All proceeds raised go directly to supporting the development of our region’s best young athletes.’’

Which is another great reason, but I think we’ve made the point by now.

If possible please register by April 13.
