Special Olympics Macarthur athletes and volunteers will be the beneficiaries of this year’s Campbelltown mayoral gala dinner.

All funds raised from annual event will help Special Olympics Macarthur provide uniforms for all athletes, equipment and portable storage to protect the equipment members need to train and compete with.

Special Olympics Macarthur is part of a global sporting community that provides training and competitions to people with an intellectual disability.

“I am a firm believer in the power of sport to support a cohesive community,’’ says Mayor George Brticevic.

“Not only does it enable a healthy lifestyle but it unites people of different backgrounds and abilities for a common purpose and shared passion.

“All athletes from Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region are deserving of an opportunity to participate in sport and have pathways for elite competition,’’ Cr Brticevic said.

“With our support these athletes will be able to showcase our city and region beyond our borders,’’ said Cr Brticevic, pictured below with some of the athletes who will benefit from the fundraising dinner.

A Hollywood theme will mean this year’s black tie charity gala dinner will be awash with glitz and glamour.

The dinner will be held at 7pm on Saturday, August 3 at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Local businesses can support the event through a range of sponsorship and support partner packages, and will be invited to a special pre-event reception.

Tickets will go on sale in early June.

Tickets include a three-course dinner, drinks, entertainment, live music and cost

$150 per person or $1,400 per table of 10.

Should you be unable to attend the event, but are looking to support the athletes and volunteers at Special Olympics Macarthur, donations of money, in-kind support, raffle prizes or gifts are most welcome.
