Girls to fly Macarthur flag at soccer champion of champions finals

Only some of our female soccer players will fly the Macarthur flag at this year’s Champion of Champions Finals.

Football NSW’s premier grassroots football tournament will take shape this Sunday at the spiritual home of soccer, Valentine Sports Park, and only two local teams have made it through.

One of those teams is the Narellan Rangers, who will take on Gladesville Ravens in the final of the women under 18 grade.

Camden Tigers is the only other Macarthur team to make it this far and they face off with Gladesville Sharks for the under 12 title.

Tigers will hit the pitch first at 8.30am and the Rangers will follow a short time later at 9.45 for their final.

Eighteen matches will be served as the main course for what will be a huge day of football as NSW’s cream of the crop grassroots clubs will meet in fighting out who will be the champion of their respective age group.

As many as 298 teams participated in this prestigious tournament, fielding 4,768 players.

Football NSW’s spiritual headquarters Valentine Sports Park will come alive with football action all day with matches commencing at 8:30am with the final matches kicking off at 5pm.

Neighbouring Southern Districts Soccer Football Association will field the most teams on Sunday with as many as five.

Manly will feature four teams with Canterbury, North West Sydney Women’s, Northern Suburbs and Sutherland to feature three.

Club Representatives from Blacktown (2), Central Coast (2), Football South Coast (2), Gladesville Hornsby (2), Macarthur (2), Nepean (2), Dubbo (1), Eastern Suburbs (1) and Granville will also feature in this prestigious tournament.

All Puma Champion of Champion winners from the Under 18s age groups and below will also feature in a special parade organised by Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC.

All winners in the older age groups will receive match day tickets.
