The mayor’s gala dinner at the art gallery was a raging success in raising more than $50,000 for Beverley Park School.

Campbelltown, take a bow.

Arguably the most generous local community in the country helped raise more than $50,000 for a new inclusive playground at a school for students with special needs.

And all it took was a single fundraiser.

More than 170 people turned out for the Mayor’s charity gala dinner at Campbelltown Arts Centre on June 17, digging deep to support the playground project at Beverley Park School.

The installation of a new, interactive and accessible playground for students with physical, intellectual or multiple disabilities will enable them to learn through play by taking the classroom outdoors.

And money raised by the gala dinner could potentially be almost doubled, with Campbelltown State MP Greg Warren looking to support the initiative by matching funds through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said he couldn’t have been happier with the success of the event, and thanked sponsors, those who bought auction items and raffle tickets, and generous community members who made a donation.

“It was a very successful night all around, bringing our community together, and giving Campbelltown the opportunity to show off one of our city’s greatest assets, the Campbelltown Arts Centre,” he said.

“But most importantly, the charity dinner raised a substantial amount of money for a playground which will improve the quality of education for Beverley Park School students today, and into the future.”

Cr Brticevic thanked event sponsors, including Campbelltown Mall (principal supporting partner); Dahua Group (gold sponsor); Marsdens Law Group and Hennings Jewellers (silver sponsors) and Campbelltown Chamber of Commerce, Cameron Brae Group, Wests League Club, Fresh Creative Styling and Bank of Queensland, Campbelltown (bronze sponsors).

“I’m very proud of the overwhelming community response to this year’s charity dinner,’’ the mayor said.

“It is truly a measure of the generous, compassionate and supportive character of our wonderful community, and I know that the families and staff of Beverley Park School are humbled by the level of support,” Cr Brticevic said.
