Winner: Tegel’s work Red Chair, which took out first prize in the 2015 Art of Sydney awards

Local artist Nola Tegel has won first prize in the 2015 Art of Sydney awards for 2015.

Ms Tegel’s winning work, Red Chair, received high praise from the judges, who said: “A touch of Margaret Olley. The artist’s studio captured beautifully in a soft impressionistic style.’’

Tegel, who is part of the Macarthur Art Group as well as a member of the Friends of Campbelltown Arts Centre, was also named as a finalist with a second work she submitted titled Venice.

Ms Tegel will receive her award at the opening of the exhibition on January 23 of all the works submitted for the 25th Art of Sydney Awards, which are organised and run by Combined Art Societies of Sydney Inc.) a non-profit group run by volunteer art lovers. It will be held in the Australian National Maritime Museum.

Al of the works submitted for the award will be for sale.

The exhibition will only be on during the Australia Day weekend, between Saturday, January 24 and Tuesday, January 27.
