A large stash of prohibited firearms, weapons, and drugs have been seized following an investigation into the supply of drugs in the Wollondilly Shire.

In February 2017, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Firearms Squad established Strike Force Hare into the supply of prohibited drugs in Wollondilly.

Following extensive investigations, strike force investigators, assisted by South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, executed two search warrants at homes at Bargo from 7.20am yesterday (Thursday, June 15).

During the searches, investigators seized a dismantled semi-automatic pistol, a sawn-off shotgun, a .22 calibre rifle, a homemade improvised pistol, a pen pistol, four electronic control devices, knuckle dusters, ammunition of various calibres, cocaine, cannabis, and mobile phones.

In addition, police located a firearms safe containing 10 rifles and shotguns, which were registered to other firearms license holders.

Two men, aged 25 and 31, were arrested by investigators and taken to Narellan Police Station.

The 31-year-old man was charged with:

• eight counts of possessing a prohibited weapon;

• two counts of drug supply;

• being in possession of shortened firearm, prohibited firearm, unregistered firearm and a pistol;

• not keeping firearm safe;

• not keep safe ammunition;

• possession of prohibited drug;

• dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Police said his firearms licence has also been suspended.

The 25-year-old man was charged with two counts each of possessing unauthorised pistol and with drug supply.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today, June 16.

♦ Also, during the operation, a 23-year-old woman was arrested by officers from Camden Local Area Command and charged in relation to an unrelated matter.

She was also refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today.
