The popular AnnanRoma wine and food festival at the Australian Botanic Garden Mt Annan is one of the community events receiving Camden Council support over the next six months.

The latest round of Camden Council’s sponsorship program will provide nine community groups and organisations with support for their events or activities.

A total of $43,450 monetary or in-kind sponsorship support has been provided for events and activities to be held between January and June 2017.

Successful sponsorship recipients include: AnnanRoma food and wine festival, Carols in the Garden, Anzac Day service, Camden Meals on Wheels, Camden Show, NSW BMX State Titles, Macarthur Lions Anzac fun run, NSW Junior rugby union under 12 state championships and St Pauls fete.

Council receives applications twice per calendar year from local community groups seeking sponsorship assistance and all applications are assessed by the Sponsorship Allocation Committee using set guidelines and criteria.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Lara Symkowiak said the aim of the sponsorship program was to provide encouragement and support to community organisations, to assist with their local events and activities.

“The scale of events and activities run by community organisations continues to grow in both number and quality each year,’’ Cr Symkowiak said.

“These events and activities help increase social and economic capital, as well as providing community engagement opportunities within the Camden local government area.

Applications for the next round of sponsorship from July to December 2017 will open on February 1, 2017 and close on March 1, 2017.
