A man was robbed of his car while cleaning it at a local 24 hour car wash business.

Police say the 52-year-old man was at Jim’s Carwash and Dogwash on Atchinson Road, Macquarie Fields when he had his vehicle stolen at around 7.30pm last evening.

The victim was washing his car when he was approached by another man armed with a sharp object, believed to be a knife, say police.

The armed bandit threatened the 52 year old before stealing his car, a red Audi sedan.

The victim was not injured during the hold up, but he was taken to Liverpool Hospital for assessment.

Police from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended to the incident and established a crime scene.

They are now investigating further and have appealed for public assistance to find the car wash bandit.
