Bandit armed with knife holds up Bargo service station

Police have released CCTV vision and are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate an armed robbery in the Wollondilly Shire.

The robbery took place just after midnight when a man, armed with a knife entered a service station on Great Southern Road, Bargo, and demanded cash from the service attendant.

The employee complied and handed over cash, before the offender fled.

No one was physically injured and officers from Camden Police Area Command were notified.

Police have released CCTV vision seeking information from the public to identify the man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance and of solid build. He dressed in a black hooded jumped, dark pants, white shoes and blue and red face coverings.

Anyone with information that may assist, or that can identify the man depicted in the image, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In a separate incident, a young woman has died following a single vehicle crash near Picton earlier today.

Police say that at about 1.20pm a Hyundai Getz was travelling on Picton Road, east of Cordeaux dam, near Wilton, when it left the road and hit an embankment.

The driver and sole occupant, a woman aged in her 20s, died at the scene.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash, anyone with information or dash cam vision is urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
