The What about tomorrow? Celebrate Safe. campaign will now turn its focus to the Australia Day long weekend festivities.

The campaign, which is delivered in partnership with Campbelltown Catholic Club, targets young adults aged 18 and 25 years, providing them with the resources and information they need to keep themselves and their mates safe while heading out and drinking alcohol.

Youth Solutions health promotion coordinator Sam Young set up at the Campbelltown Catholic Club chatting to patrons just before Christmas. The focus of the campaign will now turn o the Australia Day long weekend.

“With the Australia Day long weekend fast approaching, the campaign messages of celebrating safely and looking after one another will become increasingly pertinent, not only for young people, but for all members of the community,” says the CEO of Youth Solutions, Geraldine Dean.

The campaign has already engaged with young people across the region at various community events, where Youth Solutions staff and volunteers have handed out free information guides and resources about how to celebrate safely.

Youth Solutions research and design coordinator Emily Deans is excited to be co-leading the campaign this year and encourages young people to get involved:

“As part of the campaign we collect information about young people’s alcohol attitudes and behaviours to help make our campaign messages relevant and meaningful,’’ she says.

“We want to hear from as many young people in the region as we can.

“So I encourage you, if you haven’t already had your say, jump on our Facebook page and follow the survey link.”

The Campbelltown Catholic Club will provide free soft drink to all sober designated drivers on Friday and Saturday nights during January 2019.
