Assault allegedly took place during live streaming to gaming site

An Oran Park man has been charged over the assault of a Camden woman which allegedly occured as he live streamed to an online gaming site.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command were contacted after a witness reported the alleged assault of a 21-year-old woman, believed to have been live streamed about 8.30pm on Sunday.

Police attended a home in Franklin Grove, Oran Park, about 11.30pm and arrested a 26-year-old man.

He was taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with common assault.

The accused was granted conditional bail to appear in Camden Local Court this Thursday.

Two girls, aged three and 20 months, were at home at the time.

While the woman was not seriously injured she was distressed and shaken by the incident.

An apprehended violence order has been served.

Meanwhile more than 700 apprehended violence order compliance checks were conducted on the weekend as police continued to target high risk domestic violence offenders in south west Sydney.

Operation Resolve commenced last Friday and concluded yesterday.

It is aimed at reducing and preventing domestic violence as part of the NSW Police Force’s continued commitment to tackling domestic and family violence.

Specialist police from the South West Metropolitan Region’s Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT), Proactive Crime Team and Region Enforcement Squad (RES), and officers from each of the nine Police Area Commands within the region were involved in the operation.

Camden Police Area Command conducted 218 proactive domestic violence related taskings, with more than half being apprehended violence order compliance checks.

Bankstown Police Area Commander, Superintendent Michael O’Toole, said more than 1,300 proactive domestic violence taskings were conducted by officers throughout the operation.
