Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery at a service station in Minto during the early hours of this morning.

About 1.15am (Friday, August 18) two men entered the service station on Ben Lomond Road, one armed with a knife.

Police say the bandits threatened the male shop attendant while demanding cash and cigarettes.

The employee handed over an amount of cash from the till and a number of cartons of cigarettes before the pair ran from the scene.

A crime scene was established while detectives from Macquarie Fields conduct further inquiries.
