Boost: Local sporting stars Lachlan McLean, Samira Cox and Jaide Weiling, are just three of many SWSAS athletes and Para-Sports athletes who will benefit from the West Future Stars program sponsorship deal with Wests Group Macarthur.

A sponsorship partnership with Wests Group Macarthur has given a boost to the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) individual athlete Lone Star program.

As part of the deal, Wests will financially support the skill and sports education development of local athletes.

And in recognition of the contribution of Wests Group Macarthur, the program will be called the Wests Future Stars athlete and para-athlete program.

The program is open to athletes and para-athletes aged between 14 and 20 years, who live, represent, or go to school in the Academy region – Campbelltown, Camden, Liverpool or Wollondilly.

The program also acts as a development pathway for local coaches, support staff members and volunteers.

Mr Gerry Knights, the executive director of the Academy, says the partnership “is just one more example of how the club industry continues to support local athletes’’.

“I wish to congratulate Wests Group Macarthur on its ongoing support of the Academy and the many other sport and community organisations they support.

“This sponsorship deal is a huge plus for our talented young athletes.

“The academy is always looking for new and exciting ways to support our region’s young, up and coming stars and we’re pleased to see Wests come on board,’’ Mr Knights said.

The CEO of Wests Group Macarthur, Mr Tony Mathew said this type of support benefits everybody in the community.

“Jaide Weiling is an international inline speed skater, Lachlan McLean an international clay target shooter and Samira Cox an Australian age record holder in shotput and an Australian champion in discus,’’ Mr Mathew said.
